I heard this recently. “The basis of life is freedom, the purpose of life is joy and expansion. If you put emphasis on joy, expansion will take place.” This got me thinking about life purpose.
Eckhart Tolle, contemporary spiritual teacher extraordinaire tells us that our life purpose is to connect with “the formless presence within us”
You need to get out of your mind/quiet your mind, he teaches, in order to connect with your inner spaciousness. Why? Because joy comes from this spaciousness. Many people experience this spaciousness through meditation because meditation quiets the mind and raises your vibration. Breath work also stills the mind and leaves a sense of emptiness like being in a vacuum.
In the yogic tradition, Patanjali, the great spiritual master (2,300 or so years ago) wrote:
“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world.”
What is the “great purpose”, the “extraordinary project” that allows your mind to “transcend limitations” so “your consciousness expands in every direction?”
Many people go looking for their “great purpose” as if it is to be found outside somewhere.
I think it's the other way round. Your purpose or dharma is pursuing or searching for you.
Life purpose is within ..it is always there. In fact, using scientific hand analysis I can decode this for you because your purpose is in your hands – literally.
My hands show that I am a spiritual teacher and this has to be central to my life. And for most of my life from age 13 to my late 30s, I consciously and unconsciously, avoided everything to do with religion/spirituality. I guess I was mixing the two up (like many people).
But frankly, dharma or purpose was looking for me. I realise that now. I first got interested in martial arts and was introduced to life force energy or chi. I really liked the full-contact karate and got super fit (I thought fitness was my main reason for doing it). Then I started being interested in meditation. I loved the mental calm that I got from this. Yoga followed as a way to manage stress, or so I told myself. What I got hooked on, however, was the sense of openness, energy, aliveness and deep calm that I got from yoga. Then I had an awakening experience, which I've written about here, which answered my question about 'self love'. I then went looking for my purpose and discovered that I had been carrying the information about it in my hands all of my life (leadership/ influence)!
Oh, and then as a career therapist/executive coach, I remember thinking one day, there must be an easier way to help clients discover their life purpose. Then I forgot about it.
Well, I went to a marketing conference in San Antonio, Texas and discovered a fast and easy way to identify life purpose from the hands. I guess that the universe or source never forgets what we ask for and delivers sooner or later. Weird! Not really.
Often we know what important thing we have to contribute as a child...and it gets dumbed down and fades . What I've noticed from using hand analysis to decipher my client's life purpose is that they are often living in shooting range of dharma or purpose.
Hand analysis names your life purpose so YOU can claim it.
Life purpose is ongoing...it a process or consciousness you inhabit (Richard Ungar). You have to take small risks, little leaps off the cliff, as Stephen Cope, puts it to claim your purpose.
Patanjali also tells us that when you are inspired by a great purpose “dormant forces, faculties, and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”
Interestingly, in scientific hand analysis, gift markings or extra potential talents often show up in clients' hands as if to help them transform and journey to a “new, great, and wonderful world.”
Here's another favourite quote from Parker Palmer who says, “Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it, I need to listen to my life to tell me who I am."
Your fingerprints tell you about your soul psychology and the line formations in your hands represent your brain activity – the neural pathways of your brain. These line structures form based on your dominant thoughts, behaviours and actions. You can decode your life in your hands which tells you about who you are.

Many people want to make a difference in the world and when you are doing your dharma or purpose and you bring everything that you've got to the passionate living of your dharma, you end up contributing to the common good – no matter what your purpose is. Quite a bit of surrender and trust is required and you will have to venture beyond your current comfort zone.
Remember, however, that you'll be taking small leaps off the cliff, small steps... there is no need to plunge head first over the precipice.

I feel more confident in myself, knowing that I have the genius marks [gift marking – ability to translate, simplify and communicate abstract/complex concepts and communicating to a mass audience].
I could finally understand why I was so unhappy in love because I am in the school of love. Now I try to accept myself and people as they are and take what they can give, and not be disappointed if they cannot give more. In the same time I understand why I am like a doormat in relationships...
I definitely did not know that I could be good at talking to big audience. Now I feel more confident and care less about what they think or about being perfect.
Basically all the things I found out made me increase my self esteem and self worth, and now I came up with the idea of falling in love with myself before falling in love with somebody else:_)
because I am great after all!:_)
In a nutshell I was very positive surprised about what I found out about myself and my potential!!

I still feel very empowered by knowing about my gifts.
I managed to change my attitude towards my colleague, who was bossing
me around, and my work and in general my self esteem boosted and I feel
very different, I feel self confident and strong! And I act from that space!
And it is still working!!!:-))
